This means all our new customers are now powered exclusively by wind and solar power, a great message for you to share with you. What’s more, we are in the process of migrating all of our older clients off of our legacy hosting to our newer green hosting so that we can make sure we are as green as can be!
Additionally, our data centre supplier is extremely energy efficient with a PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) of 1.12. PUE describes how efficiently a data centre uses energy, the lower the better. Most hosts have a PUE of 1.2 or higher.
Why is green hosting important?
The internet costs a lot to power: around 400 terawatt hours a year. While an individual website’s footprint is small, it all adds up: the internet is responsible for around 3.7% of global greenhouse gas emissions. That’s similar to the amount produced by the global airline industry!
